I can almost remember this movie like I saw it yesterday, but I cannot remember the title and I have always been terrible with the actors names. I've tried to search for the story line or plot and I have had no luck.
I saw this movie around 1998-2002 (sorry long time span & I'm not sure of the release year) and I think it was a TV movie.
Story:
It begins with a young female lawyer coming into her new career and she is given a case about a man who had been convicted of rape and murder and is soon to be sentence to the death penalty. The man is in a real prison, but something is odd about him. In her first encounter with the man she discovers he has a mental problem when the man becomes overwhelmed and needs to be rocked like a baby...
... In her search for the truth, she questions several witnesses in the country town including the man's mother... She finally reveals the truth; whenever the man gets overwhelmed he lashes out in his behavior, thus, a young woman lures the man into the woods to taunt him with sex, but they are not alone. There is a group of other young men who planned to have fun with this man and so they teased him about not being able to perform. This overwhelms the man, which leads to the rape and murder of the young woman. So he is guilty, but does he deserve the dealth penalty?
... The lawyer is almost clear of proving the man's inability to comprehend his actions, but it takes the testimony of the mother to make the discision final and free him from the death penalty. The lawyer convinces the mother to take the stand and tell the truth, but does she? No, the mother is so insistant on proving that her son is a man that she allows him to receive the dealth penalty rather than saying he has a mental problem. And so the man dies clue-lessly smiling while in the gas chamber.

I know this may be a lot, but I really have searched long and hard for this movie title. I would like to buy it if I could. (Dead Man Walking is NOT the title I'm looking for.)
