Hi There. I have put a 30 amp GFCI breaker in my panel. I ran NMW AWG#10-3 wire to the pool house. The instructions call for me to Bond the RED and Black wire (L1 L3) to the hot terminals. And the grnd to the unit. Normal connections to me for 220V appliance. Now what has me concerned is that the instructions call for me to take the White Neutral to the metal inlet and outlet of the heater (collectors ).these are two stainless collars I have to install before and after the heater in the PVC hose. Does this seem right. Ive posted the diagram below. I assume I have todo so in order for the GFI Breaker to trip.

According to the diagram, you are correct. I see your concern thou.

A photo of the collectors may help us determine if this is correct.

I don't have the answer to your question but you helped me with one of mine and could not find another way of getting a hold of you. I recently had my liner replaced and they did a poor job of trowling and packing the sand. Before the replacement my floor was smooth and my lines were even. Now there are bumps and ruts (where they dragged the liner out) all over the pool floor. I am contesting the work that they have done (they claim it is the nature of a sand bottom floor) but can not get another local contractor to come out and confirm the poor job they have done. Every pool person I speak with says they can not step on the toes of a fellow pool contractor. I need someone from the vinyl liner replacement business to simply say "the bottom of the pool floor should be smooth if done properly" or something to that affect. Anything to refute the "it is the nature of a sand bottom pool" which is a cop out answer. I can even send you pictures of the job they have done.
