Hello, I am new to this board but have been reading a lot of everyone's questions. Here's my question. I have two boys already ages 6 & 2 and I found out I was pregnant on Feb 21st 2009 to my surprise!! Our BIG wedding that we'd been planning for a year happened on March 14th 2009... I found out two weeks later the baby died, no heart beat anymore. So on April 1st 2009 (so not a fool's joke!) I had a D & C done @ 10 weeks along. Got my first period after the D & C on May 24th 2009. I was due to get my period on June 20th and it never happened... 4 NEGATIVE tests later  I don't know what's going on... Is this common after a D & C?? Should I wait another week? My Next period is due on the 17th of this month (July) So I don't know if I should just wait until then?? We were trying last month so I thought for sure... but test all say NO...

Most women will resume a normal menstrual period within six to eight weeks after a D&C, depending on how far along the pregnancy was when the miscarriage happened.Your doctor may advise waiting two to three menstrual cycles to begin trying to get pregnant again. If in all at doubt pop along for a chat with your GP.
4 NEGATIVE TESTS I would be looking at believing them also stress can cause delay in period starting??

It's been 4 months since the D&C so the 6-8 week window is already passed don't u think? I got my first period almost 2 months after the D & C and haven't had another since. I was just wondering what the normalcy is after a D&C since I've never had one before and don't know what to expect.

Following a D&C your body is recovering. A menstration can be as soon as 4 weeks following or it could take awhile for your body to recover. I have heard of 9, almost 10 weeks later. I would wait and you can try pregnancy tests in the meantime, but the irregularity is more likely from the D&C.

I have just asked a close friend of mine as she had a D&C last year. It was 12 weeks after the D&C when she had her first normal period. Hope this eases your mind.

Ok, I've had a "normal" period, I got it almost 8 weeks after I had my D&C. I was supposed to get another period on June 20th and it hasn't happened. My "Question" is, is this normal afterwards being it's been 4 months today since I've had my D&C?? I hate to keep asking but you guys keep saying when I get a period, and I've had one, I just haven't had another one since... I just don't know how all this stuff works. I've had two kids and I know how that works but I've never had a D&C and so it has just threw everything out the window as far as normal now. I was clock work before and now, I couldn't tell you anything about my body... Thanks for your help ladies.

I am not a GP nor know the answers to how the body adjusts to procedures like the one you have sadly had.
All I can say is that you have taken 4 negative tests and the likely hood is you are not pregnant and your body is healing and this can take time.
Maybe if you are under stress etc this may also be a reason for your periods to be missed.
If you are at all worried then the only way to clarify this problem is to make an appointment with your GP. He/she will be able to advise you more.
Each person and each body is different and I guess there is no hard evidence to dictate when your periods will resume a "normal cycle" again.

Please do come back I am just sorry I could not answer your question for you.
The human body will never be explainable nor will our women parts !
For your own peace of mind if nothing else please just pop along and chat to GP. There is nothing more annoying than sat worrying.
Love & Best Wishes to you and come back and let us know.
Maybe then you can pass on some great advice to another person in your situation x
