Hi,

I'm currently working on OPT. My OPT is valid till May 2010. The company I'm working for now applied for H1 visa and the visa has been approved. I will be on H1 starting Oct 1, 2009. My question is, can I switch jobs now? What will happen to my H1 if I switch to a new company? Will the new company also file for my H1 again?

Also, when can I get my H1 visa stamped and what all documents do I need to carry? I'm from India. Thank you.

Ram

You can work for the new company now on your OPT. they will need to file the H-1B change of employer for you to work as an H.

I know I can work on OPT now but when the new company files for my H1 transfer, they will ask for my pay stub from old company, right?

They only need to see you are in status. If you are working, they will want to see evidence of that. You should be getting paid if you are working on OPT. if you never worked for the first H-1B petitioner, there is nothing you need to present to them, just the OPT employment.
