Hi,
All of a sudden I had no water. I went down stairs and found the pressure gauge and turned the lever up to get a spark and lowered it until pressure stated to build up and water was coming back into the system. The problem is the gauge rises as high as 60 and clicks off down to 40 and back up to 60 and eventually within hours drops back to 0 again with no water and I have to do this over again. The water I do get is not with a lot of pressure. What is my next step?

I would give a good hard look bat the check/foot valve. If it's not closing then your system would drain back into the well. Good luck, Tom

Your post is a little confusing since you label the post "well priming" but don't refer to priming the pump. SB answered you accurately if we assume your pump is above ground, which the priming reference would seem to indicate. Your pressure should hold at 60# when the pump cuts off and no water is being used. If it slowly drops (and you can verify that by simply watching the pressure gauge for several minutes), then it would indicate a faulty check/foot valve or possibly a leak somewhere "upstream" between the tank and the house. One way or the other, once your pressure drops 10# below the cut off point of 40#, the switch is shutting off and you must reset it. Perhaps that is what you meant when referred to "priming".
