I have to replace the water temperature switch on my Kenmore Washer but am unable to rempve the timer knobs. How is this done? The timer knob actually consists of two knobs with a clear plastic disc between them.

Usually they just pull off. Try pulling a little harder or even prying. Try to quit before breaking. You can also look for a set screw or pin near the back of the knob.
