We have a depression where the sewer line runs through our front. How do we find out if it the sewer is leaking. There is no sign of sewer problems in the house. Our foundation inspection turned out fine. Is there any way for us to detect an outside sewer line leak without spending 400.00$?

A plumber can run a SeeSnake rodder down the line and you can watch it on his TV. It will not be free but way less than $400. How big and how long is the depression? If you don't want to dig then you might try pounding and iron pipe to get a core sample. Never did it myself but if you have a leak a core will show really soggy soil.

I'd opt for the Sewer Viewer Camera. The liquid seeping out into the soil doesn't bother me so much as the fact that the pipe night have a split. This will allow roots to enter and if that happens you'll have plenty of sewer problems. Good luck, Tom
