I have a Ranch King 20 hp kohloer tractor with a 46 in deck.
It is the same tractor as a Craftsman.. identicle.
Problem.
It starts but when you engage the clutch for the mower deck it sputters and stops running
If you put it in drive it sputters and stops running.
I have checked the wiring... replaced the clutch wire leading from engine to clutch about a month ago.. that was fixed and has run well.
It is a great mower but I am stumped.. and have about 5 acres of grass to cut.. and my lady is not happy when the grass gets over... 1 foot tall... lol you know what I mean.

Hi,
Assuming that there is not a problem with something being at the point of seizing, I would say to check the seat switch. The reason is you mention both the deck and clutch and both go through the seat switch in the scheme of safety circuits.
