Is there an inexpensive way to record phone conversations directly to PC using the earphone or headset jack port on the phone to either microphone line in port or USB port on PC? Does it also require special software?

Here's what I want to do: My friend and I want to record our phone conversations and then save them for later listening. Would be best if in mp3 format but wav we can convert.

Anyone know if this is possible or how to do it?

Thanks much.

Hi I am Ananth Here. Yes you can connect telephone to Line input of comp Throuh a capacitor . You can use audiograbber software for recording. This is free download . You can search in Google and download. Install this and there is an option for line in sampling. It saves in wav format. But it has conversion option to mp3

What is "capacitor" and any links where I can purchase? Can you also provide links for free "audiograbber" software? Thanks for your reply.

Radio Shack sells a pickup mic that you can use to plug into the mic jack on your sound board. Some phones have a headohone jack and you may be able to run a splitter to a headset and the mic jack.

Ananth told you to just Google audiograbber to find it.

Capacitor is an electronic component. You can contact a local audio unit techie or contact a electronic components shop. This is needed to isolate the telephone voltage from entering the PC. For audiograbber , it is easy. Go to www.google.com and search audiograbber . You will definitely get the downloading link

If your phone has a headset jack you can directly connect to PC with a cable from phone headset jack to PC line in
