Hello-
I have been in a 2 year probation program since 2008 for a DWI in Texas. I have attended all meetings, DWI calsses, etc. I came to work in the U.S. in 2000 transferred by a Mexican Company. Now I have no job since February '09 I was layoff and haven't found a job yet. I'm from Mexico and have a job opportunity in Mexico and want to return to my country. What can I do with my probation without affecting my status in US?
Regards

Have you finished your court ordered classes?
Are you on informal or formal probation? (Formal means that you report to a probation officer.. informal means that you dont)
Regardless, you are going to have to try and get permission to leave the country. Probation is a county thing so it can differ quite a bit from county to county, state to state...

Speak with your probation officer or someone in the probation department in your area. That's the only 100% way to know.

I'm in formal probation, and still have 1 year left.

Hello mg:
Let me see. You're a Mexican national on probation in TEXAS, and you're looking for stuff... It would be my view, that TEXAS ain't in the giving mood.
Now, if you had a really good lawyer, HE might be able to do something... But, you ain't going to get anywhere by yourself.

I would say to give it a shot... it could really go either way.
I half-way agree with Excon.
They could want to keep you there because they might not want to be cooperative with you or give you anything that you are asking for, given the circumstances...
But at the same time, they may be willing to work something out for the exactly same reason, especially since it means that you would be going back to Mexico.
