I just recently purchased a vehicle. There has been some confusion and I'm not too sure what to do, so I figured I'd come here and maybe someone can offer some valuable advice.

I've had this vehicle for about four weeks - my only problem is that if the vehicle isn't in my name then I can't register it, can't get insurance as well as can't claim the bike as my own. Thus being said I haven't gotten the vehicle in my name because of the seller.

The seller sold me the vehicle and gave me the title, which is in her fiancés name, but he already filled it out to his cousin. He was going to give it to him but decided to turn around and sell it. I asked the seller about it and she said that she needed the title back to go to her fiancés cousin, have him complete the title transfer into his name, THEN sign it into my name.

Sketchy huh.. Note that I do in fact have a bill of sale, I know where the seller lives, and when I originally made the deal I brought someone along.

What do you suggest I do?

Personally, in my state, I would hold on to the title and make the boyfriend and the cousin go to the notary or where ever you sign it over. You need to do something asap. Then if that doesn't work take them to small claims court.

Very simple. Have the owner of the vehicle(the seller's fiance) go the DMV and request a replacement title; just say he lost the old one. He can then sign it over to you and you can title the vehicle in your name. The cousin doesn't have to be involved whatsoever.
