Hi,
My 98 honda accord lx won't start. Several problems! Sometimes it will hesitate and sound like it may start for about 5 minutes. Usually on hot days when I just run in the store or pump gas. That lasted 3 months. Took it several places and everyone was clueless because of course it started for them. Then the last 2 weeks I have gone into a store and tried to start the car and it wouldn't do anything. No hesitation just one click. Everything would work in the car though. The lights, radio, power windows, and clock. If I would turn the ignition they would still work. I would try jumping it several times and it still didn't crank. After waiting 2 hours for a ride, I tried again and it started! And worked for one week before it did the same. This time the battery drained after trying to start it a gazillion times. First they thought it was the starter, but I knew better. After testing the started they realized it was good. Then they replaced the battery. I'm not sure this is going to work either. Its working now (1 day) with the new battery, but I have a strong feeling I will be in the same place next week. What could it be? I've considered the relay and the ignition switch, but I don't want to spend a fortune replacing everything in the car. I don't think it's the alternator because I replaced that too (about one year ago). The only reason why I hesitate on the relay switch is because I have no hesitation. HELP!

I had an issue with my '98 accord. It did the same thing started sporatically and would work fine for a week or so. Long enough for me to forget the problem.

The problem for me was the relay that triggered the starter, not the starter itself. It's quite a bit of labor for the mechanic to get to it. But my car has been working fine since then.

Hopefully this helps.
