I have a new dvd/vcr combo and a lcd TV hooked up to cable. How do I connect the dvd/ vcr combo to the TV with the coaxial cable cord?

Depends on which type of coaxial cable cord.
How is the signal being brought into the TV? Do you have Cable television, Satellite receiver, or off-the-air antenna?
If it's the antenna, the signal will come into the television on an RG59/U coaxial cable with an "F" connector at the end:

You move that cable to the "antenna" input of the VCR/DVD. You then connect another cable to the "TV" output (same type of connector) and run that to the TV.
Another way to connect a VCR/DVD to the television is using an RCA cable and the composite video signal. RCA connectors/cables are also coaxial cables.
RCA connector - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RCA_cable)
The yellow tips on the plugs (and the corresponding yellow jacks) are for the composite video signal. The red and white plugs/jacks are for the right and left audio channels, respectively. You can connect a cable like that shown in the link to the TV. This gives a better quality picture than the RF (radio frequency) connections mentioned above (the F-connectors). To watch, you have to set the TV to "Line IN" or "L1" or something similar.
VCRs usually don't have the more advanced connections (Component Video, S-Video, or HDMI). If yours has these connections on both the TV and the VCR/DVD, you should use one of those connections.
If you wish and if you can take pictures of the back of the DVD/VCR and the TV (and the satellite/cable box if you use that), you can post them here (click "Go Advanced" and follow the directions below the text) and I can give you more information.
I usually don't watch this forum (though I will catch your responses from e-mail). In the future, you may wish to post at https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/home-electronics/
