Okay, My fiancé and I just found out that her ex was arrested in March for theft of jewellery priced at $100,000. Him and a friend then pawned it off for a whopping $1,700 at a local pawn shop. His bail was set at $25,000 which we believe was partially paid. My question is, what should we expect with sentencing. It's kind of important because he is trying to seek visitation of their 2 girls. She is afraid that he will be able to walk away with a smack on the wrist and that's it.

Anyone got any ideas?

Hello R:

It's difficult to say without knowing MUCH more about the incident and his background. If he's a young first offender with a GOOD LAWYER, a job, money, family and community support, he could get probation...

But, if he doesn't have any of those, he's probably going to do some time.

He's 26, been in and out of rehab. Doesn't have a job, has stolen his dad's identity and wrote bad checks before. No community support that we are aware of
