38 weeks pregnant. My doctor told me I have candida albicans. What kind of infection is that. The only thing I have is milky discharge. It does not really smell and it does not hurt when I go to the toilet. I was a small bit itchy. What does it mean. I started on velosef tablets. Are they safe to take in pregnancy. Will they harm the baby. Please help

Candida is a yeast infection. Here's a link that should tell you everything you ever wanted to know (and then some) about it:

Candida albicans - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candida_albicans)

If you need more information than that, try googling:

Let me google that for you (http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=candida+albicans)

As Perito said, it is a yeast infection which is fairly common in pregnancy. The velosef is considered safe during pregnancy especially at this late of a stage.
