I think only in scientific terms (except when I'm asleep). The moon is a satellite to the earth. It's a hunk of rock.

Some people say that the moon was once a meteorite that hit the Earth, then, the big junk of hot molten rocks separated, and the Earth and the moon were formed. They got spherical when they cooled down. (well, mostly spherical).
