Let me know if it worked for you. I'm going to do it and once I do I'll post my own feedback.

Note: I'm pretty sure you don't have extra pin pong balls lying around, so try covering your eyes with other things that would do the trick; just make sure you are completely blacked out. Maybe a bandanna?

Wasn't this sensory deprivation thing the premise for the old "Total Recall" movie?

Not too sure Catsmine, I haven't seen that movie.

I did it. However, I was not relaxed; had a little two year old running around. Will try again tonight.

It was Arnold before the Terminator. They used a tank, blindfold, etc. and regressed into the racial memory. Arnold turned into a monster and I lost interest.

Don't turn into a monster, OK?

Well I tried it.

All I saw was lines of green. I really wanted to talk to my dead aunt Rosie-- maybe next time.

Haha I've done this since I was little every night before bed. It helps relax me somehow. Cept I don't use the static on the radio and I just put my face down in my pillow with my hands in fists pressed against my eyes. I don't see unicorns or anything. I see lots of tiny balls slowly disapearing to show a huge golden wall. But I can never keep my eyes still enough to see the whole golden wall because every time my eyes move, the balls come back and cover it up again. Hehe.

*edit* Oh dear I'm sorry I didn't mean to resurect an old post. I wasn't paying attention to the date

This also works with blindfolds and earplugs... it's a way of daydreaming, but it's also a way of torture... depending on how long you go.

Definateyl torture.

My favorite part is if I go at it long enough, I literally am blind for a few moments to a few minutes.

I talked to my doctor about this, and aparently its because when you put pressure on your eye, the optic nerve is cut off from blood supply, and this causes it to sort of... I can't explain it. But basically the same thing as if you sit on your leg and it 'goes to sleep' or you fall asleep on your arm and wake up and you can't move it and it feels like its full of sand.

Very interesting though. I went TOO Far once and started getting a bad headach and distorted vision. Not good :P

So, as with all things, IN MODERATION :D

I endure this every night. My husband insists on the bedroom being pitch dark and a sound machine or the window ac making (loud) white noise, and, as a result, I hear country or folk (sometimes classical) music playing when I'm trying to fall asleep.

I sleep just about anywhere, anytime, in any condition. Let it be on a train... in a library... or standing in line at a fast food restaurant. My knees lock... and I pass out.

... problems? Nahhhh
