In plumbing, we refer to "cross connection" as:

1. Actual or potential connections between a potable and non-potable water supply

2. Connecting two dissimilar metals

3. Connecting hot water into cold water side

In addition to above:

A cross connection is a physical connection between two otherwise separate systems, one of which contains portable water and the other of either non-potable water, steam, natural or LP gas or a chemical, etc...

Is this a test question? Why are you asking... just curious here?

Wow... you do that to me all the time, Milo..?

Your definition was OK for a plumber but for a non-plumber that may not know what a potable or non potable water source is... I thought that your definition could be added to... like I said, you do it all the time... ;) In fact, potable water needed to be defined and I forgot that... :)

CVAN, potable water is DRINKING WATER. Therefore, non-potable water is basically water that cannot be used for drinking, cooking, etc. Hope that helps clear anything up if unclear!

Have a good day all!
