I need to know if anybody knows how to resolve the issue of only having half of the screen display and the other half be just black. I just need someone to answer if you can fix it and what parts are required. Please someone help answer the question. Thank you.

Are you saying that half the picture is black, the other half is "OK". Is the picture simply compressed into the "OK" half or is it cut in half (highly unusual)? Is the black half side-to-side or top-and-bottom?

The picture is cut in half and the black portion of the screen is the top half. Have any ideas?

The signal is being blanked during the second half of the vertical oscillation cycle. I can't imagine what could do that -- without looking at the schematic. This is probably not going to be easy to fix -- or inexpensive.

Winnie, if you got it fixed or repaired, can you share how and how much it cost you (and what was the problem? I am debating fixing or replacing, but I like the PIP feature of mine ad would rather keep it.

I found out it was the picture tube and because I had 2 other Sony's besides this one I used it's parts to fix the issues I was having with the other TV's.

OK I see, not good news then euh? Talk about the old SONY reputation gone out the window. I have a 14 inch SONY from 1987 which is still ticking no problem, and I now that 27 inch is fairly recent... it will be cheaper to replace than repair I'm afraid.
