I was hired at the casino, I have to apply for a gaming license, the speaker said any arrests must be explained in writing, and felonies will not be offered employment. I was arrested in 2004 or 5, from a fight with my sister in the state of New York, where children were present, it was physical I was arrested for endangerment of a child, however I did not start the fight, and if your firmiliar with ny state laws you can not defend yourself in front of your children in ny, however I was able to prove that my sister was not acredable or what ever the word was, she has been in a mental hospital and know to lie to the police, so at my second hearing in court it was dismissed with the acception that I did not get in trouble for 6 months and I havent/ didn't. Now I can not seem to be able to get a copy of this, my husband said it will not show up but the speaker said anything back to my 18th birthday. Sorry about my spelling and thank you

In NY it should show up as an arrest. How were you CHARGED? Felony? Misdemeanor? It could be either.

I am also in NY; I work in the system; I have never before heard that there is a law that states you cannot defend yourself if attacked but there are children present.

It sounds like the "sentence" was an ACD - adjournment in contemplation of dismissal - and you complied, stayed out of trouble, and that was the end of that.

However, the original charge should appear on a background check.

So write down your explanation and submit it. The word you're looking for is credible.

Well its not a law saying you can't defend yourself, but when children are present and there's and altercation, its endangerment, I asked my public defender so basically you can't defend yourself in front of your children he said correct. I need to figure out how to get a copy of the court decision, by June 8th I am in AZ now so if I don't provide any paperwork on that situation I will not get the job, if I don't explain it and it shows up on background check I won't get the job

Relaxxxxx. I can't believe the casino is making YOU come up with long lost paperwork... In my view, if you explain the situation EXACTLY like you did here, with us, you'll get your gaming license.

You were NOT convicted of a felony IF you were convicted of ANYTHING.

If it shows up, and it probably will, your explanation should be satisfactory..
