I hear that it takes woman around two years to get pregnant... why? Does there body have to warm up to the idea of a baby or what? I don't understand why two years is the main number.. any help? Just curious.

Where did you hear this?

The average couple can take up to a year to get pregnant. If you're actively trying for a year and nothing happens that's usually when it's time to go see a professional and find out if there's a problem.

It has nothing to do with your body getting used to the idea. It's a matter of having sex at the right time, the right conditions, the egg being fertilized, implanting etc. etc.

Most couples do conceive within the first year of actively trying, some take longer, some become pregnant the first month they try.

It depends on the couple.

Although for some perfectly healthy couples it can take longer, most women will become pregnant within a year of active trying. For some it happens the first month of trying, for others it takes several months. Depending on a woman's age, some doctors will start testing after a year of trying without success... or if she is older, after about 6 months of trying.
