You will have to file for part custody or at least visitation and have a child support order in place to pay.

Well because the girl is 16 the parents still have legal guardianship over her but I would go to the lawyer as soon as possible they will set up a blood test to just prove that it is yours and get you set up for a court date. You really need something legal in writing saying that it is your child and that you have rights to that child.

This is completely dependent upon which state you are in because each state has their own laws. Basically, the general advice it to get a lawyer.
