Hi there,

I hope someone can help answer my problem.

Basically since August 2008, my periods have suddenly become irregular and I didn't get a period from September-November 2008 (except for on/off spotting).

Then in December I had a period which lasted 10 days (not normal for me as my periods tend to last only 4-5 days) then again on January 23rd I got a period, (lasted 4 days), in February I didn't get a period and then on March 19th again I got my period, (lasted 4 days), in April I didn't get a period and now were almost approaching June and no period.

I have been to see my GP numerous times and he sent me off for blood tests to chec my throid levels which came out all fine and I also had an ultrasound done to check for PCOS/fibroids that too came out all clear.

I have done lots of pregnancy tests sinch my periods have gone irregular even a blood test by the doctor and all negative so definitely not pregnant.

Now the doctors not helping me and keeps saying everythings normal but I know its not, I used to get my periods almost always on the 31st of each month and now I don't know what's happened to my body and all this time I have been trying to conceive but there's been no success so something is wrong but what could it be? The doctors isn't interested in doing anything further or to send me for further examinations.

Can someone please please advise, I have a 5 yr old daughter who I conceived naturally and my periods have been normal since the age of 11.

Orry for the long email but I really need someone to talk to.

Thank you very much

Try another doctor? If this doctor is out of ideas to help you it might be time to find a new one.

Hi Just Curious,

Thanks for your advice, yes that's exactly what I am going to do, I am going to register with a new GP this week and explain to him what I have been experiencing and take it from there.

There are many other homone imbalances in the body that can prevent a woman from menstrating, my periods where irregular a few years ago. I went to the endocrinologist (hormone doctor) and they did a comprehensive amount of blood test and it came back that my oxitocin levels where elevated, which means my body was producing breast milk and I was not pregnant, nor had I recently given birth and the elevated levels of this hormone prevented my period from coming.

So go see another doc and have some more test run.

Think back, there had to be something you did diffrently around the time the irregular periods began, medication, stress, new sex partner...

Dear Lighterrr,

Thank you for such an informative message.

As mentioned in my 1st email, I have had two blood tests done to check my Throid functions/FSH etc and both the tests have come out all normal.

I am registering with a new doctor tomorrow so I will see what he has to say and take it from there.

I have been getting periody sensations but on actual period.

I will keep you posted.

Thank again.

Stress and weight loss/gain, change in exercise or diet can mess your periods up.

Dear J_9,

Thanks for replying to my question.
