Hie all, I'm new here and also new to the router stuff. I've got a Mega 105WR wireless ADSL router, unfortunately I don't have a telephone line connection, so I can't connect to the internet. My question is, am I able to disable DHCP on the router and have my DHCP server issuing IP addresses? How do I configure that because I checked the manual and noted that all other settings are done with an internet connection which I don't have now? Also in that condition, how do I configure wireless networking? To all you technowizards out there, I know you've got a solution to my problem and thanks in anticipation.

While you're waiting for a wizard to respond, here's the $0.02 of an apprentice: If you are attempting configuration with the router's setup utility software, stop. Try instead connecting via a web browser to the router's web based administrative interface using a computer connected to one of the router's LAN ports. The computer will first need to be configured with an IP address on the router's default LAN subnet, which if it has not been changed from the factory default appears to be 10.0.0.0 / 24. A full discussion of this can be found in chapters 8 and 9 of the router's manual (http://www.telkomphones.co.za/manuals/Mega%20105WR%20EASY%20START%20GUIDE%20VERSION%201. 0.pdf). Once logged into the router, DHCP can be disabled from the LAN configuration section.

Yes, you can disable DHCP on your router and have your DHCP server issue the IP addresses. OR, you can have both of them issue addresses providing that the Scopes do not overlap each other. I would assume that you want to run your own DHCP server so that you can configure other custom entries that your router does not support.
