Hi. We have recently had a problems with our drains draining slowly, we poured some drain unclogging stuff down them and they seemed to be working fine. However we started seeing water in our bathroom floor around the vanity, but it is not coming from our bathroom sink (the shelf in our vanity is not wet) It is coming out from under the vanity. Every time that we pour something down our kitchen sink it is coming out in the bathroom floor. We called a plumber, he came, ran a long thingy down it, and then poured some really stinky, sulfa acid stuff down it and declaired that it was fixed, but it's not. The water in still coming out under our vanity. Does anyone have a clue as to what could be causing this, and how to fix it?

Desperatly needing your help,
Nancy

Hi Nancy,
We need more dwetails before we4 can answeer. Did the plumber test his work before he left by filling thr kitchen sink and letting it drain? Are you on a slab or a basement house? Is the kitchen close to the bathroom? Waiting on you, Tom

No he didn't test his work before he left :( , we are/were not very impressed with his work. I guess we're on a slab? 1 story, with a crawl space under the house. The kitchen is in the next room, with the sink against the same wall as the bathroom sink.

Hope this helps,
Nancy

My guess is that there is a hole in the drain pipe that connects the sink and lavatory drain to the main sewer. This line probably runs horizontal in the wall about 18 inches above the floor. You can if you like cut a hole under the lavatory (if you have a vanity) or under the kitchen sink, this way you can test the line and see where the water is getting out. If this is the problem then post back and some one will explain how to repair the problem.

Hi Nancy,

Someone's going to hafta finish the work the plumber failed to do. Someone's going to hafta crawl under the house while you discharge a tub of water from the sink to see exactly where the leak's coming from. Let me know. Regards, tom
