I have a 92 honda accord that will not start sometimes... let it sit and it will start. I was wondering if that might be the main relay? I can hear it click and it don't set and trouble codes in it. But when it won't start, it has no fire to the plugs...

Normally, main relays are suspect if the car starts when it's cool in the morning but won't start in the heat of the afternoon.

Does the Check Engine Light always come on and go off after two seconds, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II)? If not, the ECM may be failing (Perform the K-Test). This is fairly common on older Hondas.

Yeah... the check engine light comes on and goes off, with the key turned over... it will start when its cool, and starts 99% of the time when its hot... only thing I have noticed and different is, when it idles, the check engine light will come on. Cut it off, and restart it and its gone... as long as you are driving it, it stays off, but let it idle about 3-4 minutes and it will come on... thanks for the help

. Check for codes:

. Replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil:

These are the two most problematic components on Hondas of this generation, which should be replaced every 120,000 miles or 10 years, whichever comes first. There's a very good chance, if you replace these items, your problem will be solved.

Thanks... I have replaced the ICM about 3 months ago, it went out, but this not starting every now and again is still going on... the car only does it maybe once a week. Let it sit about half a hour and it starts right up... sometimes it does it of a morning when its cold, could be during the day when its hot... thanks for the help

I would also replace the coil--easy job.
