I am a Michigan resident and I am in the beginning stages of being sued for credit card debt from 07. The amount is 1850.00 dollars I had a process server come to my house over the weekend to serve my wife but she was not home. I asked the process server to give it to me he declined saying he had specific directions by the judge to personally serve my wife? This did not sound right he says he has to give her direction on what's going on. Now long story short how do I get out of this?

No, you are not being sued your wife is. If you were being sued, you would be served not your wife.
Also no, normally on a credit card debt, they can hand it to you, to the wife, even nail it to the door, so this does not sound right
How do you know this is a credit card debt, have you already been served, whose name is the card in,
Could there be some other legal action going on

Yes this is a credit card suit from capitol one I have wrote this attorney about a month ago and disputed the debt. The attorney sent a response back confirming the debt and now the process server came over to serve her but she was not at home. I asked him if he could give it to me and he has stated that this could only be served to the named person by order of the judge. This could be maybe because a few years ago the judge in my city discovered that there was a certain attorney that handles these suits was getting many judgements against people. He was not serving them and telling the courts they were served and this attorney was in a lot of trouble and I believe they took his law license or suspended it temporarilly. So maybe they changed the rules here I don't know.
