I have searched this forum but I still have a question about gutter guards.

I have heard mixed information about the effectiveness of gutter guards. I have a large swamp maple tree in my front yard. The leaves aren't the big problem... it's those damn helicopters that come down in the spring. My house is a cape, so it has a steep pitch.

Will the gutter guards keep out the helicopters?
Will the gutter guards allow all the rainwater to enter the gutter or will the pitch of the roof cause the water to flow right over the guards?

Most guard guards will put s top to the helicopters but not all. There are several types and you need the kind that is primary a solid sheet of aluminium bent into a J shape.

Is this the one you're talking about?

Yes they will keep those out,
The ones pictured are very good, some of the cheaper versions don't stay in as well.

Logan, yes that is one of the better cutter guards but the one I have used does not stand up so high above the old gutter and really is shaped like the letter J. Gutta Gard™ 5"x 48" - 20 Feet (http://store.guttersdirect.com/guga20fe.html)
