I have a new ceiling fan. Hooked up all the wires according to directions. Capped the red wire coming in (not being used). There is a remote, once everything is done, the upper light works, the fan works and the lower light does not work. Is there something that I am missing. I have stripped and rewired the lower light line to make sure there is a good connection.

Check the bulb, check all the wiring connections. One or the other could be loose, or it could be defective.
