I am installing a Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan with light kit. When I removed the old fixture, I noticed I had the green ground wire, the white neutral wire, and a red and black wire. The Red wire was used on the old fixture, and the black wire was capped. When attacing the new fixture I used the red wire as the hot wire and the unit is not working. Should I try the black wire? I am open to suggestions. Thanks for everyone's help with this, It is HOT in NJ. I need the fan NOW! LOL

Wire white to white, green to ground green, black and blue wire(for the light) connected to the red wire. Leave black wire capped.Should have pull chain on fan to control fan speed. Turn power on and pull the chain. Also has a forward and reverse switch on fan, make sure it is not stuck in the middle.

Agree with Jerro. The red worked before it should work now.
Not to sound too obvious, but did you check the wall switch?

Check the reverse switch as well as the pullchain.
