HI there,

This is my first father's day dating a father. I haven't the slightest clue what to do for father's day. Do I plan something for him and his daughter to do together? Just him? Is it appropriate for me to attend? What are some good father's day ideas for a 27 yr old?

Whatever you do don't take him out to eat because all of the restaurants will be pack.

For Father's Day, depending on the weather, I plan on cooking my fiancé favorite food followed by his favorite desert.

Since he likes to bowl we are going to bowling and the kids are going tag along too.

I am going give a card along with some Giant's stuff since this is his favorite football team.

He's a chef, so my cooking is nothing special. We all know that. LOL. I was thinking of where to take him and what to do. I was actually thinking of a restaurant. We can make reservations, I don't care if its packed. But I'm just out of ideas. Although I already know what I'm getting him as a gift from his daughter and myself.

Hi, Momma!

Are there going to be any of his other relatives, besides his daughter, involved in the Father's Day activities?

Thanks!

Nope, just the three of us. That's why I'm the one responsible for planning something special.

Clough
May 25, 2009, 01:25 AM
Well, what about something fun for the child and the three of you? If it were me, I would tend to plan to go to something that might be child-oriented.

Father's day ='s kids, at least in my mind.

What do you think?

Thanks!

ChihuahuaMomma
May 25, 2009, 01:26 AM
Well yeah, but I can't think of what.

Clough
May 25, 2009, 01:31 AM
Okay, finding a restaurant or him or you, for that matter, isn't a problem. So, the question is what sort of kid thing might be appropriate for the three of you.

Any theme parks nearby? Carnival? Rides that might happen all year round? Special movies happening? Kid-oriented restaurant?

I'm thinking here...

I'm sure that you catch my drift!

Yes, but this is HIS day, not hers. He won't be into Amusement parks. I want to do something nice for him that's from me and her.

Clough

If you were around here, I would get together with you and show you how the three of you could make a simple, but very nice musical instrument together!

I would love to be involved!

I've made over a thousand thumb pianos with kids in schools and churches. They're worth anywhere from $60.00 to $80.00 each.

No child has ever had to pay any money for one.

Anything artful happening in your area where the three of you could participate in doing something artful together?

ChihuahuaMomma
May 25, 2009, 01:39 AM
Not that I know of. He's not an art person. Doesn't care. He enjoys cooking, camping, and pretty much anything outdoors.

ChihuahuaMomma

I'm not trying to shoot down all of your ideas, but this is the problem that I am having as well. It's difficult to figure out what to do..

Clough
May 25, 2009, 01:44 AM
Okay, it's getting warmer. Any chance of you going on a camping trip or maybe fishing excursion together?

ChihuahuaMomma
May 25, 2009, 01:47 AM
He doesn't fish. I really wish that we could go camping. But this has got to be a one day event as we both work the day before, day of, and day after. We just recently went to a beerfest and he had tons of fun, but that's not really kid friendly. Well, at all... lol.

Hot air balloon ride!

What do you think? It's kind of popular around where I live. It would certainly be a memorable event!

ChihuahuaMomma
May 25, 2009, 01:56 AM
He HATES heights. Has never even flown, never will... That'd be a great gift for me though!

I remember when my daughter came back from California a number of years ago and we were at a restaurant/bar. She was showing me pictures of things that were going on in her life.

At the point that she was showing me one of the pictures, she says, "And, oh, by the way, that's me 3,000 feet in the air!"

Someone had taken a picture of her as she was skydiving. She wanted it to be a surprise me, and it certainly was!

All I could say was, "Well, I guess that you've got one up on me now, Beth!"

There's no way that I'm going to go skydiving.

What things does your boyfriend like and like to do, please?

Thanks!

He's an outdoorsy person, he loves loves loves cooking, he likes to be at the beach, on the dunes and/or in his truck.

Clough
May 25, 2009, 02:18 AM
You know, it doesn't have to be something really fancy for the three of you. It would be nice if it was special and something unusual. But, that's not really necessary.

Do you spend time with his daughter alone?

ChihuahuaMomma
May 25, 2009, 02:21 AM
Yeah, I work nights and he works days so she's hanging out with me all day unless she's at school.

Clough
May 25, 2009, 02:24 AM
How about making a special card for him with her on a computer and then just taking a long ride in his truck?

You could plan the route.

(I'm still hunting here! )

ChihuahuaMomma

This is the first year that he's had full custody of her, so I kind of want to make it special...

ChihuahuaMomma
May 25, 2009, 02:25 AM
LOL. Yeah, I want to do something a little more special than that.

ChihuahuaMomma

We live in Vancouver, Washington (which is about a ten minute drive from Portland, Oregon) if that helps.

Clough
May 25, 2009, 02:28 AM
How is the wind speed out there, this time of the year?

ChihuahuaMomma
May 25, 2009, 02:29 AM
It's windy here all year long. What did you have in mind?

Clough
May 25, 2009, 02:33 AM
Kite flying! You and his daughter could get, or even make, a special kite, maybe put some designs on it that the two of you do together and then the three of you fly the kite, (or, more than one) together. Father's day sayings and designs could be on the kite.

Of course, this being after you've had your wonderful meal together that either he has prepared or the three of you have prepared together.

I'll think of something. He wouldn't be interested in that at all. I know we'll go out to dinner. I just need an activity for us.

Clough

You know, you could always spend time with me here writing a song together! I've gotten it to the point that people can actually hear what I've written.

Actually, I'm serious about that!

If you would like to do something like that, I would be glad to help you!

Not much for me really going on for Father's Day. Daughter is in California and my son is kind of estranged from me. Although, when we get together, we do get along.

Thanks!

ChihuahuaMomma

I'm not a writer, at all. But thanks.

Clough
May 25, 2009, 02:55 AM
But, you know what! I could help you to be one! Everyone can do something like that.

If you can walk, you can dance! If you talk, you can sing! The thing is, that we're not all born with a Stradivarius for and instrument. But, we can all do the same things.

If I was your age right now, I wouldn't be able to write very much on this site. It would be going very slowly for me. With practice, through the years, I can now write volumns.

Before, I would have never considered myself to be a writer or even any kind of singer. Now, I know that I can do both.

The offers always there!

Thanks!

Thank you.

Clough
May 25, 2009, 02:58 AM
You're welcome! Please take me up on it sometime! It could be a good way for you to bond with his daughter!

I don't like to write, it's not something that I enjoy. Never have. I'm more crafty. Crocheting, knitting, painting.. that sort of thing. So is she. Those are the things that we do together.

Clough
May 25, 2009, 03:02 AM
I'm going to start that new craft thread yet! I've already got some new images of things that I've done.

So, why not something crafty with them that could be done in less than a days time?

ChihuahuaMomma
May 25, 2009, 03:04 AM
Cause he's not into crafts, he'd be bored to death.

Sorry I missed that post.

Do they have boat rides for you to go on? I love to go on Circle Line just for the view.

What about a pinic? At the beach or park? You can get some outdoors games to play at any store.

I am still thinking of some other things.

ChihuahuaMomma

Yeah, I want something to do that's special. We have a weekend boat, so that won't get his jollies off. LOL. I'm sttiiilllll thinking, too. Glad I thought to think early!

I just want to apologize, I don't want it to seem like I'm just turning down all ideas. I just want this to be really really special for him because it IS his first Father's Day that he's had full custody of her, she just moved in with us. So I want it to be as special as can be.
