Dear Sir's / Madam's,

I am very much worried about my German Shaphard Dog (Male) age 1 1/2 year (one and half year old) as after his detailed medical checkup my veterinarian say he needs weight.

I will be very much obliged to you, if you please tell me the best, easy, possible, early way to help my dog to increase the weight.

Thanking you in anticipation with my very much kind regards.

Waiting for you suggestion and reply please.

Hi Yemenifish,

There are some great dry dog foods available at pet stores that are specifically for weight gain in dogs.

I personally like Science Diet weight gain but there are many similar products that do the same thing :)

When you try a new food remember to add it slowly and mix it in with his old food so it doesn't upset his stomach.

I had a Great Dane that was needing weight and calcium. I got a bag of "Purina Nurse Chow", it's to bottle feed calves. It's full of vitamins and nutrients. You just put a cup of the powder in a bag, put about 5 times as much puppy chow in there with it and shake it up. The nurse chow sticks to the food and smells like malted milk balls. Dogs absolutely love it, and it will pack on the weight. I talked to my vet about it and he said he didn't see a problem with it. We just fattened up a stray that the vet said was anemic (sp) and needed a $400 transfusion. We prayed and fed him good. You can get the Nurse Chow at the local feed and seed store. Good luck.
