Three weeks ago our dog suddenly started losing his balance and falling down. We rushed to Vet Clinic. They found an ear infection and gave him antibiotics. He appeared to recover, but vertigo persists and he refuses to drink water. We have to hand feed him moist dog food with extra water.

We returned to vet several times and have run $400 in bloodwork. Everything came back negative. He still has vertigo, his head shakes and he loses his balance. The vet said possibly neurological and says we just have to wait and see.

You don't say, Tego, how old your dog is. The ear infection sounds about right. We can lose our balance that way. Dogs can have strokes, same as us, therefore question on age. My older Schnauzer, now deceased, started having seizures, couldn't stand up.
