My husband has been out of work for three years. We have been able to keep paying our Ford Credit bill but are always late. Ford Credit told us that they are thinking of repossesing the car because it appears that we cannot pay. I am 30 days past due right now and plan to pay next Friday. But, since we have been late so often they are telling us they will reposess. Any advise? I can't understand why they would want to reposses. We owe $22k on a car that is worth $12k.

What ever happened between you and Ford Motor Credit? Did they repo your car? I was awaiting my Social Security Disability (which has a backlog), making payments to Ford Credit and making promises to pay and they still took my car. For $710. The week after I received my back Social Security their debt collector filed a lawsuit. There are people today taking advantage of the "Cash for Clunkers" and I hope they stay away from Ford Motor Credit.

Kilian, I know how it is. I had a loan with ford motorcredit back in 2003. It would be 3 days late and they would tell me they were going to reposess it and that I couldn't afford it. They are VERY nasty people to deal with. So, every time they said that I would give them the address as to where the truck was at the time and told them to come get it. I was tired of them harassing me. They NEVER did. I was habitually late with my payments. Whether a few days or 2 months. A lot of times I had to hand carry the payments to the nearest office, but I never lost my truck. Things might have changed since then.
