I am wondering the proper steps in starting a cleaning service. Should we get a business licensce, get bonded, or do we do both? Where should we go to do this?

It depends on your locality and what is required by means of licensing.

Bonding, of course, is a totally different thing and at your discretion. If you are handling money at all, I would be bonded. The insurance company that writes your liability coverage will be able to give you suggestions.

First off.
I run my cleaning company out of my home and my Town does not require me to get a business license for it..

Second... Do not buy a bond unless a customer requests it...

Just get insurance and you will be covered...

In my area your liability insurance does not cover all problems which could arise. Not saying yours does or doesn't but this is a question for someone in the insurance industry.

IN my area.. I have asked countless insurance companies about bonds.. all told me they were not necessary unless I was contracted through another company...

I use it for my marketing but when a customer asks for one then I go buy it
