How do I file for child abandonment in the state of Georgia? My kids visit their father every other weekend, but I arrange for them to get back and forth, and I haven't received any financial support in almost 2 yrs. There is no communication between him and I, at all, I have been dealing with this for almost 10yrs. I have began the process of filing for child support, but I am aware that it takes along time if your not receiving state aid.

GA is a little quirky in this area. GA includes in its definition of abandonment, not providing support one children. But if you have never filed for child support before, I'm not sure if the statute would be applied.

What do you think filing for abandonment would get you? It might get him some jail time, but nothing for you if there is no court ordered support.

What I don't understand is why didn't you filed for support when you first broke up?

Well I continued to give him the benefit of the doubt. Fortunately I am able to take care of my kids by myself, but I've gotten to the point where Im tired and he should be doing more. I just want the process to move quicker. So I will continue on with the support process!
