If you are looking for something different, I would suggest "Brazilian Adventure" by Peter Fleming. It is a tale of a group of travelers having adventures in Brazil in the 1930's. Or you can look up Richard Haliburton's "World of Wonders." That book describes many of the amazing things this world has to offer. I was 14 the first time I read "Romeo and Juliet" The main characters are about your age. Well, good luck with your reading. Enjoy!

Go to your local public library and ask this question. Not only will they be able to give you lists, depending on your interests, but will also supply you with stacks of books.
If I were 14 again, I would read all the Newbery winners in order from oldest to newest. When I was 14, I read all the books in the Zane Grey collection and in the Tarzan series.

If a boy, you might like
The Catcher in the Rye by
J. D. Salinger.
If a girl, try National Velvet by
Enid Bagnold.

If you're a girl, and want an easier shorter read, you might try 'The trouble with thirteen'
It's a great story. I'm 24 and even I still enjoy reading it :)

It really depends on what sort of books you like. Everyone has their own preferences. Some may like romance novels, others may like mystery and horror.
I personally prefer fantasy type books myself.
Some of my favorite books are:
The Pern books by Anne Mcaffrey
Hunter's Moon- by Gary Kilworth
The Sight and Fire Bringer- David Clement-Davies
The Mortal Instruments triliogy by Cassandra Clare
I am also a huge fan of all of Tamora Pierce's books.

I would also like to mention the book "Grendel". I'm not sure who the author is but ts from the perspective of the monster Grendel from Beowulf. It was a very good book.

Speaking of the Hobbit, I read the Lord Of The Rings books when I was about 14...
Absolutely loved them, a thousand times better than the movies :)

I don't know what your interests are or what your reading level is, but I always loved anything with a mystery, both fiction and true stories. So some of my all time favorites are: nancy drew (the yellow hard covers are my favorite. The old original blue covers are good too, but I wasn't into the old english. The paper backs get a little cheesey but they were still good.) I like reading anne rules true crime stories (not before bed though. Too scary). Lovely bones. There's another series, by the same author as the princess diaries. Silver is for secrets is one of the books, I don't remember the rest but they were all like blue is for... red is for...
Confessions of the shopaholic (I can't wait to watch the movie now!).
