I am getting suied by my credit card for a total of 14,500 dollars. I do not know what to do other then go to court that day. I can not afford an attorney and the summings did not say I needed to bring one but it did say something about a written statement. What is this? And how do I write it? What needs to be included in this? Also there is a fee of $178.00 to appear in court that day. I also do not have the money for this either.

The reason I do not have the money is because I was late a few times and the interest sky rocketed into over 33%. I was paying the minimum payments due, (over $400.00 a month) for like a year or so. Then, I had to quit work because I had a baby. I ended up selling My car and paid the credit cards as long as I could but in a few months ran out. We do not live near relatives and have no money for day care. My husband was also out of work for 6+ months and we are now trying to get our feet back on the ground. I will go back to work part time one day but think it will be in a year or two.

I need help with what to do. I have every intention on paying them back I just need the interest to be more reasonable and the payments to be a lot lower. Can I get this deferred for a while? Or is there something else I can do?
Thanks for your help,
RoginaC
