Split - 3 ton - I just installed a new inside unit. Not all of the half round coils are cold and when the unit shuts down the smaller of the two lines entering the coil shakes. I can here refrigerant moving around after shut down. More than usual ? The temp difference was 20 deg. Now it is 17.5 with new one. AC service added more freon and said he brought system down ,evacuated and charged with 3 add. Lbs and balanced it ? Shouldn't the coils(copper) all the way up the outer side be cold.Did this guy fudge it?? Thanks in advance for any insight...

If you just bought a new indoor unit and did not replace the out door, odds are the coil is to big and should have had a txv valve installed. As you probably now have a 10 seer outdoor unit and a 13 seer coil.

Hey Josh- The unit's are both 3 ton and I saw the guy put a valve into the manifold?on the front of the coil. So the copper tubes protruding from the front of the coil will never get cold all the way to the top? Why is there excessive noise in the coil when the unit shut's down and why do the coil's shake at that point also?

How old is your outdoor unit? And is it r-22 or 410 freon?

It's R-22 and he put in an additional 2.5 lbs. I don't think he evacuated the line going to the coil.He injected with freon to pressure test but I don't think he brought the line's down again. It's make what I feel is excessive noise. The coil isn't cold all the way to the top.I was an elctrician for yrs. And worked along side AC guy's - also did property manag. So I know my way around a little.Just doesn't sound right.I'm pretty sure the cond. Is 3 ton. I only have 1350 sq.ft.. Label's are faded from sun so I could'nt tell.Took and educated guess.Coil is 3 ton.I'm pretty sure they sized the cond. For the home.. Any diagnosis before I tear this guy a new one..
