My husband, who is an alien from Mexico, would like to adopt my 3 year old daughter, now her real father doesn't have much of anything to do with her, so I think it would be great. I just do not know what steps to take to make it happen. We are pregnant with his first and my second child and we would like to make things happen as soon as possible. Everywhere I turn to says that I must get the parental rights from her real father, who as much as I do not wish to speak bad of said person, refuses to do what's right. Even though he won't come see her, or pay child support, or even call her. I do not know what to do or how to do it

If you can't get the father to sign away parental rights, then you have to PROVE that he is a danger to his child.
Good luck with that.
You're better off getting a lawyer and going after him for child support. Some men, after HAVING to pay child support, are willing to sign away parental rights for an adoption to take place once they know the child support will stop.

First, a question:
Legal or illegal alien? If legal, it is no different than any stepparent adoption and Syn's advice is sound. If illegal, get that solved first.

OK to answer steve's question, no he not legal, but we are in the middle of fixing that ( I hope) lol I have no idea what I'm doing there either, but I think I got it. And to answer syn's comment, I am going after him for child support, but he won't work lol. I did a real number having a baby with that one. But I do think that I can prove he is a danger to her, so thank you very much.
