What is noteworthy and interesting about the architecture of Leon Battista Alberti? Who were his major influences and what are some stylistic elements that all his buildings share?

Not really homework, I am just interested in his work after I learned a little about him in class (intro to western art) since I wanted to learn more about Humanism and he's the humanist. I know he was not only an architect, he was also a painter, poet, etc. He focused a lot on math and proportion... but in the text book, there were not much about the buildings he designed... Why did he become the Renaissance Man??
