I have 4 1/2yr old daschound who has really bad skin problems, her skin is dry and bumps come out all over her body mostly on her feet, belly, and under her neck. Which makes her scratch which turns into scabs and they become infected, then her hair starts falling out. Her eyes and noise are runny it. Started about 3yrs ago. She went to the vet and he said it was allergies. We had her allergy tested and she got on allergy shots for about a yr. then it got worse, so I took her to another vet and he also said it was allergies and it was so bad that she got a staff infection. He put her on clavamox (antibotic) for the staff and atiopica for the allergies, which once she was finish the antiobotic everything came back. Once again we went to see another vet and he said it was not her allergies it was something else so he referred us to a dermatologist. We went to see them and they ran all kind of test on her from 2 kinds biopsy and 3 different cultures and put her on some more antibotics and vitamins. All of the test came back inconclusvie, they think she may have an immune problem but they are not sure. It is getting very costly and my dogs looks like she is in pain they still do not think that all of this has anything to do with her allergies but I think it does. Has anyone ever heard of this?

Yes, my great aunts dog had the same problem. They never found out exactly what it was but it helps to wash them regularly and see if some stores have ointoment cream. It lowers the bumps and makes them itch less. :)

The should have given you something to wash her in to help with the itching...
You can get medicated shampoos from many pet stores.
What are you feeding you dakki? A lot of dogs hve allergies to vertain preservatives in dog food.
Has your vet tried oral antihistamines?
Is there any baldness or open wounds?

I have 2 different kinds of medicated shampoos, but after about a day or two she starts itching again and I don't like to take her a bath too much because it will dry out her skin and she will itch from dry skin. And yes they have put her on all kinds of meds. From benadryl to steroids. The bendryl really does not work and once she gets off the steroids she gets sick again. And the hair loss comes from her scratching. It all starts with a little bump that almost looking like a pimple that she starts and it gets inflamed

Food allergies seems to be about the only thing you have not tried to solve. Allergies do not have to be to preservatives, although that is more common than food ingredients. We had a Dobie allergic to corn, and try finding ANY food with no corn products involved. Switch her around, maybe even go to fresh food like beef or pork. If she improves add more foods until she has a varied diet.

I think it's an allergy problem, not a skin problem. I have been battling allergies in my GSD for months now.
She's good, she's bad, she's good. I've mixed and matched and done just about everything but she still itches.
OP has to look into diet.
