I am a grandmother and I have had two of mu grandsons for a year.Their mother live in Arkansas for two years The Father my son is in prison.The mother came down the last week of June 2008 and has not been back.She raely calls them and when she does she high.The boys are 10 and 12 and they do not want to go back to her.I have the youngest in counseling because he has too much anger stored up in him.They tell me all the time that they do not have any use for her.We just into a tew bedroom apt. and I let them have their own bedrooms. The atty generals office finally caught up with her and she got served I really do no think that she will come down here for the tew if she does can I get her for child abandonment on her?She has not been to see them is almost 1 year.Can someone please help me?

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

Second, this depends on local laws, but generally you do NOT want to "get her for child abandonment". In most states she did not abandon the children, she left them in your care. Even in the few states that might consider this abandonment, I don't think you want her in jail.

What I think you want is to become the guardians for those children. To do that, you should report the situation to children's services and ask that you be declared guardian. Eventually you may be able to get custody and might even be able to adopt.

What you want or need is to become guardian or get custody of the children, having her charged ( if your state even does that) will do little good since it does not change the custody situation.

A family law attorney and going for a legal guardianship would seem the better course of action
