I have a GE side by side fridge, 2 years old that is not cooling. The top shelves are warm, bottom shelves/crisper are cold. Now the freezer is having same problems -- bottom is colder. Has anyone experienced this problem and if so how was it fixed? I would like to save the $200 and fix it myself!

Make sure the knobs that say 12345 or ABCDE are set in the mid range like 3 or C
I had a problem with a couple of my refrigerators not cooling right and everybody told me that I set the knobs to the coldest so the freon froze and made them not work properly. If adjusting knobs doesn't work it may be the freon.

Refrigerant R134a has the following characteristics:

BOILING POINT: -26.2°C(-15.1°F)
FREEZING POINT: -92.5°C (-141.9°F)

I don't think you can freeze R134 by turning your refrigerator too low.

The circulation fan that is usually in the freezing compartment may possibly not be working.
