My husband got a girl pregnant, she is on medical assistance and food stamps.
She told welfare the father was un known, she does not want to keep the baby
So my husband wants to take and raise his child, my question is, does he have to pay welfare back for the medical and food stamps? And what is she responcible for by saying father unknown.

I'm not positive but I believe the father is only responsible for costs related to the baby after the birth. She is probably not in much trouble if any for saying the father is unknown but your husband is going to have to follow through with establishing paternity after the birth. However she is supposed to cooperate with identifying the father if she asks for and receives public assistance like medical and foodstamps, so I don't know if your husband wants to try to follow up on that or not... The important thing is that he establish paternity so that he can get custody of his new baby. Good luck
