Hi,
I had a strange brown discharge 1 week before my period is due. It lasted about 5 days (I usually last 7-8), it was not at all like a period, was very light (normally I am very heavy), I had no pms symptoms (which I always have), i.e. no cramps, no sore breasts, no emotional outbursts etc. My "real" period is about a week late and I have a very sore, crampy back, sore nipples, bad bloating, gas and pains in my stomach occasionally. I am also feeling very tired and lazy. My husband thought we should take a hpt but we have had 2 negatives, however my urine was pretty dilute when I did this (in afternoon). Although I did not think that should matter ? We have not been planning on pregnancy but there is a slight possibility as we had unprotected sex (withdrawl), (about 2 and a half weeks ago) when I may have been ovulating. I am a bit concerned. Please help.

Missy.

Do not worry about this at all. It is perfectly normal and occurs once in a while depending on your cycle. It is probably simply due to some kind of internal flush, if I may express it thus. If it recurs every month, I would have an Ob/Gyn have a look. Otherwise, just carry on with life as usual.

Umm missy the withdrawal method does NOT work, trust me I have had 3 pregnancies to prove the accuracy of that lack of birth control I call it. Pregnancy is always possible when you have unprotected sex, you know you can also get pregnant from pre-. It's possible that you have tested to soon and the test could not detect any hcg. This is what you should do see a doctor and have him do some blood work for you. You may also want to try another test i.e First response, it picks up the hcg levels even if they are pretty low.

Good luck

Yeh I used a first response. It was negative.. so I thought it was right. I guess I will just wait and see ? If no "real" period soon I will go to the docs. Thanks for the input.
