Frost free refrigerator freezes up. Is there a hole or something that can be patched? As it is now, especially since warm weather is upon us, I will have to defrost it pretty often. Just seems such a waste if it cannot be saved, works great otherwise. Also, it is an older model that was made to last.

Refrigerators have a "defrost timer" that actually heats the walls of the inside of the freezer so that ice will move off. I suspect that your defrost timer is bad and needs to be replaced. The last time I replaced one (some time ago), they were around $25.
Newer refrigerators are said to be much more energy efficient and can pay for themselves in 3-5 years.
