Hi there

I have been diagnosed with dry-eye in both eyes, but I have symptoms only in my right eye. I feel a horrible stinging most of the time. The only time it is not there is when I am outside in broad daylight. Any other time - especially where there is artificial light, it is very bad.

I was referred to an ophthalmic optician, who gave me a load of artificial tears, but none of them worked for more than a few minutes - even "Optive", which many people seem keen on. Then he gave me some steroids to suppress it. This worked, but I am not comfortable about taking them long term. He told me to slowly come off them, and I am now down to once every two days, and the symptoms are back. He doesn't know what to do next

This is very disruptive to my daily life. At home, I sometimes need to wear a patch, and it is very uncomfortable when I am at work.

Does anyone have any ideas that might help??

It's time to get a second opinion. See another doctor and see if they can pinpoint the problem.
