I have a 1999 Ford Taurus SE. Motor runs great, transmission not working. Unplugged trans sensor and drove it but only had 2nd gear (I think) didn't shift at all. Check engine light on and I got these four codes. P1744, P0743, P0750, and P0760. Also Fuse 33 is dead. Any help would be great! Thanks.

So am I to assume the tranny is shot?

Have you dropped and cleaned the pan, changed the filter, and replaced the fluid (Mercon V) every 30,000 miles? Automatic transaxles are the weak link in all FWD cars. They require regular maintenance with the best products available; e.g. Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF or Amsoil Universal Synthetic ATF. I own a 2000 Taurus SE, with the 3.0L Duratec engine. I love the car and service it like a F-22 crew chief.

How you have maintained the transmission likely answers your question.

I just got the car, fluid is reddish brown but doesn't smell burnt. It was my neices until she went haywire and left the state with her boyfriend. Don't have a lot of info on the car. Guess I'll start from scratch.

Redish brown is definitely not good. I'd say you're facing a rebuild or replacement.

Dropping the pan will likely be very telling.
