I am trying to find sources for RE tax sales. The only ones I find charge for their lists. They are getting the information from someplace. I would like to know where. Ideas appreciated. I live In Missouri but am interested in other States.

First the only place you can purchase real tax sales is from the county ( or sometimes city) tax office. They hold normally yearly tax auctions. This allows you to get a tax certificate that you have to hold, or you get the property that day *** that depends on the state you are at.
The only "tax sale' property you find on lists are properties that people have already bought at auction and then just want to re-sale at a profit.
The county will give out a published list prior to each sale, merely contact the local tax officer where you want to buy property.

Thank you Fr Chuck for answer. However on some sites I have noticed upcoming sales, besides the ones already over. There are about a half dozen states I am interested in. Also I read people are movng back to the midwest since cost of living and taxes are destroying them. Any other ideas or comments appreciated. :)

If a property has a mortgage, the mortgage holder will make sure the taxes are paid. So the vast majority of properties that are sold at auction are abandoned properties in a state of disrepair.
